David Prowse, Who Played in Original Star Wars Trilogy, Passes Away at 85
Actor David Prowse, who played the role of Darth Vader in the Star Wars original trilogy, passed away at the age of 85. The actor was suffering from age-related ailments when he breathed his last, confirmed his management agency. “It’s with great regret and heart-wrenching sadness for us and million of fans around the world, to announce that our client DAVE PROWSE M.B.E. has passed away at the age of 85,” tweeted Bowington Management.
The UK-born weightlifter and bodybuilder rose to fame after playing the physique of Darth Vader in the super celebrated sci-fi franchise. Before landing himself the famous role, Prowse was known for his appearances on the small screen as the first Green Cross Code Man, a role that he portrayed in an advertisement spreading awareness about road safety among children. He even received an MBE in 2000 for the ad that ran for over two decades.
